In 1942, Ilfo “The Watchmaker” Fontana was commissioned by his country to produce a timepiece for Italian naval officers. However, the deal was called off before production started, leaving designs and prototypes lying dormant for decades. In 1999, Italo Fontana, Ilfo’s nephew, rediscovered them. The old drawings, still relevant after all those years, became the foundation for U-Boat’s collection of watches, all handcrafted in Italy.
